For some reason. . .

For some reason, when the sun came up
we were still up,
playing that reincarnation game—
craps galore.
I was bickering with angels,
eyeing fondly
       rivers of time.
And the dark one spoke,
       saying,
"I am the light."
Flamboyant.

I had heard the tumble-tumble and the jum-jum.
I was aware of beasts with an infinite number of teeth—
       forever hungry,
like toothless ones.
I had thrown the dice,
       deciding
to end it all,
to lose—
if only for this:
       for a single tear,
       a single flower,
       a single smile,
       a single simple love.

For all things are simple
       when there is no madness.
In the domains of madness
       all are angels,
       all are devils,
       all are eternal,
       all are one.

Being a divine being,
I am a giver of light.
