"Unbeknownst to Clark,"
Unbeknownst to Clark, Lois, too, had a secret identity. She too had random beeper calls, was out "on assignment" and had a random, and frequent, assortment of bad excuses, inept apologies, and mysterious "ways." She was afraid of her other life, and wanted, desperately wanted to be normal, and yet "normal" to her was an active process, a pushy process. She was considered pushy, bossy, bitchy, and she was an insecure man¹s worst nightmare. She suppressed her attractions, torn between men of power‹ true power, like Lex Luther, Superman‹ and men who were simple but with strong values, decency, and the number one suspect, the object of her desire, was Clark, bumbling Clark. Clark was Zeus's son. Lois was Hera's daughter.
