So many dreams of Venus, the goddess
with buoyant eyes in a sea of sadness.
Too often my heart yearns for those eyes, falls
for those eyes: the eyes of a woman in love.
I stretch my discourse to flatter her.
I leave my sentences incomplete,
for she is a breathless woman.
To fall for the eyes of another
is to fall through the windows of their soul,
and to see them always in dreams.
