The Wall

by Chole Chanem

Some walls are made of wood and stone
They keep intruders out
They stay in place
When an attack they mount

But there are other walls
Not made of solid stone
They are of custom
And makes us hold our own

There are legal walls
Which the system doth makes
But are just as solid and real
As those that cause intruders to shake

But for each impregnable wall
There is a way to go
To allow an opening
To those who the way does know

We may not know the opening
For many of us are blind
By custom and passion
That do us ever bind

But for those who know
As is for you and me
We can find the way
And a conquer be

In the wall that confronts me
There is a triumphal arch
If I but had eyes to see
Through it I could march
