A Tattered Flag

by Chole Chanem

A tattered flag
Sits on a hill
It is defended
By those, there, still

And for what purpose
Are those, there, staying
It is their goal to stay
And the price they are paying

For most people
There is not an actual hill
But there are objectives
That fit the bill

We all have objectives
That in life sets our goal
In it we have a reason
That marks our life bold

But as with the hill
And with the flag
There should be a reason
Else life is a drag

Goals are our objectives
And obtaining it is a thrill
But if we have no objective
We have no hill
