Epitaph

by Chole Chanem

Cemeteries are a dismal place
They are filled with the dead
Although it'll someday be our home
It should not fill you with dread

On each grave there is a stone
That tell of the dead
And has some witty comment
By the living to be read

On my stone I wish to have
A saying I hope is true
That will have applied to my life
And to my memory too

"When I am dead and gone
I hope that men will say
'Here lived a man
Great in his day'"
