There are some problems that involve
or
but that aren't really litter box problems.
Spraying
When a cat sprays, the cat raises its tail and sends a stream of
all over the wall, or somewhere else. Spraying is not about elimination: it is a marking tool. Cats spray to mark their territory.
Male cats that haven't been neutered are most likely to spray, but any cat may spray. To prevent spraying, the humans should get all cats neutered. If spraying starts, the human must try to understand why. Usually the cat who sprays is protecting its space from other cats. These cats may be outside the house. To stop the spraying, the humans must stop whatever it is that is upsetting the cat and making it spray (although a quick neuter operation will help if the cat isn't neutered).
Worms
Worms are internal parasites. They live in the intestines and can cause problems with
such as the trots. All cats should be kept free of worms by the v*t.
There is one worm, the tapeworm that is carried by fleas, that will shed segments. These segments will crawl out the cats rear end. Humans get very upset when they see these segments, as well they should ! A cat who has segments crawling out it is not a happy cat ! This cat needs to be treated by the v*t for tapeworms, and also be cleared of fleas.
Anal Sac Problems
It is humiliating to admit, but cats can get anal sac problems just like d*gs. The anal sac is attached to the anus, the port of exit of
. If the anal sac become inflamed and impacted, it will hurt to make
. The humans should pay attention. If you are crying on the box and not doing your business often enough, they need to take you to the v*t right away.
