Some cats always use the box for
, but put
on the bed, or in a corner of the living room, or on the couch.
Frequently cats who have trouble with
are very young or are very disturbed. Young kittens may not know any better, or may lack good bladder control. When they need to go, they go where they are - and this becomes a bad habit. Disturbed cats may be refusing the box because of some reason discussed in the previous lesson, or they may feel insecure and nervous because of changes in their environment.
Humans need to be patient with the cat and to try to understand what is causing the problem. The cat does not mean to be bad. Cats need a quiet and regular environment without a lot of disturbances in it. A young kitten needs ready access to the litter box.
The human needs to make sure that the box is clean and that the cat is secure. It may be necessary to clean up the wet spots with special cleaners to remove the smell of
if the spot has become a habitual spot for the cat.
If you, or any cat, suddenly start having problems with
, your human should take you to the v*t. I know, I don't like to go either, but you could have a kidney problem. You could be allergic to your food, or have some other veterinary problem. If you have trouble reaching the box in time, insist that your human take you to the v*t right away.
