Dear Midnight,
I really need your advice. My cat Jesse James is 2 years old now. He
was so beautiful, with his thick black coat. He has been losing fur
now for a year. First we tried antibiotics and predisone. Now we are
on the Frontline drops for fleas. Where I put the drops, he is becoming
bald. He scratches, and I think he is pulling out his fur. He has
been to the doctor now 2 times. The last visit we decided could be
fleas. He is a very sweet cat and I am worried. I guess I really
babied him when he was little. Jesse has lived with me now since he was
5 weeks old. I am worried about his baldness. He always had long thick
fur, now in the sun you can see bald spots all over. Please help us. Thanks

Dear Dee Dee,
I am not a vet cat, so I don't have a lot of advice for you. Hair
loss in cats is usually caused by allergies or diet. If you can, I suggest taking your cat to a cat allergist, such as
might be at a Veterinary College. If this is impossible for you, then all you can do is try a good,
mild diet. The vets sell good diets that don't cause allergies.
Also, you need to make sure Jesse James is not coming into contact
with anything that might make him itch. This could be fleas, or the
flea medicine, or shampoos if you bath him. I have heard that tuna can cause this problem, so I suggest giving
him a no treats that contain tuna. I am sorry I have no quick answer for you. Just remember that it is
probably allergies in his diet or in what he touches, and try to give
him a mild diet from the vet, and to get him to an animal allergist
if you can.
Disclaimer I am not a vet or a trained animal psychologist. I am a cat.
As I always mew, ask your vet about medical problems without delay.
